What Happened to…

Few things keep me awake at night like the thought that the Wispa chocolate bar might suddenly be pulled from production.

I can remember the day it happened; walking into the shop, a huge grin on my face, I was sure my day was about to be improved 300%

Walking to the chocolate shelf, I set myself up for the excitement that was about to take hold of me. Then I saw the space where the Wispa’s used to be and I laughed. “What happened?” I asked the boy at the till. “Wispa’s are gone, are they?”

He looked at me with dim eyes and said, “Yep.”

I awaited the laughter, the joke, the smirk on his face as he pulled a full box of Wispa’s out from behind the counter. It did not come.

“Excuse me,” I said, “I’m in a bit of a rush, can I have ten Wispa’s please?”

He laughed. “Aren’t any.”

I almost doubled over! When I was myself again ten minutes later I said “come on mate, let me at them.”

“I can’t,” he said, indifferent. “Aren’t any. Like I says.”

How I laughed again! Finally I got control of myself and said, “Seriously, I need to go. Just give me fifteen and I’ll be off.”

“Like I said, can’t,” he replied. “Sad, I know.”

This got my goat. In fact, it got my goat, strung it up, and pretty much left it for dead.

“Hilarious my friend,” I exclaimed, clapping. “Now come on, the joke’s over.”

He looked at me, his lips quivering, then said: “You’re the tenth today. Seriously, it’s over. I am sorry, that’s it.”

I collapsed on the floor—or no, I’m being dramatic: I cried out and shuffled back to the shelf: “What’ll I do?” I cried. “The Lion bar was changed and Opal Fruits turned into Starburst–What’ll I do?!”

He said, “Sorry again.”

Sorry!

And that was it. For a while I was a tortured, glum, shadow of my former Wispa loving self. But then it happened. One day they came back!

The same can’t be said for the 5,4,3,2,1–

Attention Holiday goers, I have at long last, been able to figure out what everyone is going to owe me for the Touring caravan insurance quote for our holiday this month. Please make an effort to get this to me by Monday so I can get it sorted out before we are ready to leave.
