Nuclear scientist from Iran

Shahram Amiri the nuclear scientist from Iran had an interesting story to give about the CIA after his return from the United States. It has been said that this was planned and executed by the intelligence department of Iran. As a proof of infiltration Amiri had given two license plates of vehicles that were owned by the CIA. The US officials however say that he had defected to the United States and had been given money in return for providing some important information about the Iranian nuclear program.Amiri however had made conflicting statements on the internet which say that he was kidnapped and also that he was studying for his doctorate. He says he was kidnapped in Medina and then taken to a secret location in the Saudi. After this he was taken to the US under the influence of some drug according to his statement. He says he was tortured and threatened and he was told that if he did not cooperate he would be handed over to the Israelis.

I find this particularly hard to believe in the light of the fact that the Iraninan foreign minister himself has said that Amiri is not a nuclear scientist. I fail to understand what Amiri hopes to accomplish by making statements like this. It is also unbelievable that he has got two license plates of the vehicles of one of the best intelligence agencies of the world. Was the CIA sleeping when Amiri made off with them? Perhaps the stainless steel fasteners failed and he just lifted them off? Also this is coming from a country which does not even have a real president. They are just being ruled by a mullah who is a religious fanatic and cannot think of anything else than causing trouble to others. It is more likely that the US agency decided to free him after realizing that he could not provide them with any useful information.
